Across the Middle East and North Africa, Kaizen is implementing a flexible, quick-response mechanism through technical assistance and operational support.
Countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region are operating in complex political and economic environments. In countries transitioning from authoritarianism to democracy, from violent conflict to peace, or other pivotal political and security events, USAID Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) programs catalyze positive change by laying the foundation for long-term development. OTI nurtures peace processes, promotes reconciliation, supports emerging independent media, improves government responsiveness to local needs, and fosters peace and democracy.
Highlights
- Developed and delivered an “OTI 101” training to OTI/Libya and Libya Transition Initiative staff
- Provided virtual trainings on OTI programming principles and context analysis
- Finalized USAID/OTI’s first Sudan program strategy document
Kaizen supported OTI within the Bureau for Conflict Prevention and Stabilization at USAID through the USAID/OTI MENA Regional Support activity. Kaizen fielded top-caliber personnel and covered their administrative, operational, and security needs to enable them to focus on their technical work for OTI. The Kaizen senior regional advisor also provided technical support to the USAID/OTI Middle East team and country programs, including participating in meetings between the OTI and the Missions; advising regional teams in program design, strategy, and revision based on lessons learned; delivering field-based orientations and training; facilitating strategy sessions and rolling assessments; and conducting regional analyses and reporting.
